The US 23 Twin DI Projection Booth
« Thread started on: Nov 17th, 2005, 1:19pm »

The US 23 has a two-story projection booth. The original booth has the original RCA bases with modern xenon lamphouses and Simplex projectors pointed at the 1997 screen, built to replace the original 1952 screeen destroyed in an arson fire. The upstairs screen has Christie projectors pointed at the 1986 second screen. There are still manual reel changes as there is no automation equipment in the projection booth.

To be more specific, the downstairs booth at US 23 has Orcon xenon lamphouses which were bought from Harry Mahoney and were used at the Sceen Drive In in Durand. The projector heads and sound heads are Century. The upstairs projectors do have Christie lamphouses, Lou bought in Texas, but have Simplex projector heads and sound heads. I believe that Lou bought those from Harry Mahoney and they came from the adult theater(Cinema Blue??) that was on Dort Highway that is now the Deja Vu. Everything runs on one hour reels. Yes they are still manual change overs. Both screens run on FM sound and there are a few ramps that have speakers.
